The Parkland at Wentworth Castle

This is the final post about our visit to Wentworth Castle last week.

Cyclamen

As you walk through the visitor centre and out into the grounds of Wentworth Castle one of the first gardens you come across is the John Arnold garden. Taking a seat on one of the benches around the perimeter of the garden you are treated to a view of some of the 600 acres of parkland that is cared for by the Trust and home to a herd of deer.

I hope you have enjoyed my photographs of our trip to Wentworth. It is a very special place that cannot be explored thoroughly in just one visit. I am sure there are new paths and gardens to be discovered and the changing seasons to be enjoyed. I know I will be re-visiting very soon.

The Stumpery at Wentworth Castle

The second instalment of photographs from our walk around the grounds of Wentworth Castle last week.

All of these photographs were taken in the Stumpery area of the grounds. A stumpery is a feature garden much like a rockery. But where a rockery is made of rocks and stones, a stumpery is made of sections of dead trees.
